Service Description

Private Clay Play for the Sewing ladies — The full Monty Experience Gather your favorite people and come and get your hands muddy in a relaxed, creative pottery adventure at Camo Chicken Ceramics. This private session gives you the best of both worlds — a chance to experience the magic of the pottery wheel and the freedom of hand building your own unique ceramic creations. Your adventure includes: ✨ A taste of the wheel Everyone will have a turn on the pottery wheel with guided instruction. Learn the basics of centring clay and experience the challenge (and laughter!) of throwing your very own piece. ✨ Handbuilding with attitude After the wheel, slow things down and create a beautiful handmade piece using traditional handbuilding techniques. Think organic mugs, pinch bowls, trinket dishes, little vases, textured platters, or whatever your imagination dreams up. Your pieces will then stay behind for their final glow-up — carefully dried, fired, glazed by the Camo Chicken team, and fired again before they are ready to be collected. Bring your own drinks and nibbles, wear sensib The day is designed for creative freedom with guidance. We encourage you to focus on creating one larger statement piece or two to three smaller complementary pieces, allowing time to explore techniques and create something truly special. Ideas include: A beautiful serving bowl A hand-built jug or vase A butter keeper A mug or tumbler A collection of small bowls A garlic grater and oil pourer A textured wall hanging Ceramic flowers or garden art A sculptural vessel or decorative piece The Details Investment: $210 per person Duration: 10am to 3.30pm or thereabouts Location: Camo chicken ceramic studio Taupo Includes: All clay, tools and materials, Expert guidance from ceramic artist Ani Rowell, Tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day Glazing and kiln firing of your completed pieces A generous allocation of clay is included in your workshop fee, covering the creation and firing of your chosen pieces. Additional large works or excessive quantities may incur an additional materials and firing charge. This is not a production class — the joy is in slowing down, experimenting and creating a few beautiful pieces that will be treasured for years to come. Spaces are strictly limited to ensure everyone receives plenty of individual guidance and time in the studio. Come spend a day creating, laughing, learning and making something beautifully imperfect with your own two hands.
